HELPFUL HINTS

Going Fishing? Use a little (1-2 drops) Anise on a towelet to wipe your hands with before and after baiting your hook. It helps eliminate the "human" odor that can deter the fish from "biting".

Cleaning Fish? Place a few drops of Lemon on your hands (diluted down of course) to help get the fishy smell out. (No lemon essential oil? Cut a real lemon in half and squeeze the juice on your hands.)

Too much time in the Sun? Apply a mixture of Sesame oil (15ml) and Jojoba oil (15ml) with Lavender essential oil (1 or 2 ml).  Apply a light coating every few hours to help take the 'burn' out!  This helps to repair the damage done by the Sun and might even prevent you from 'peeling'.

Don't you love the summer months? Here in northeastern Minnesota our summertime weather is short but enjoyable.  Unfortunately with it comes bugs, mosquitos and other pesty insects. There are several essential oils that will repel these "critters".  Citronella is often used for mosquitos, but there are several other essential oils you can try alone or blend some together.  If you plan on using essential oils on your skin remember to mix them with a carrier oil such as Sweet Almond or Apricot Kernel.
Other essential oils bugs hate are:
1. Crawling insects such as ants, cockroaches: Angelica, Camphor, Orange, Pine,  Peppermint, Sage, & Spruce.
2. Flying insects: Anise, Bay laurel, Cedarwood, Cloves, Eucalyptus, Orange
3. For your Clothes closet: Bay laurel, Camphor, Cedarwood, Lavender, Patchouli and Sage.
4. ON YOU - repellant: Cedarwood, Citronella, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Pennyroyal and Sandalwood.
Here is a recipe you can try as a repellant.
Mix in a glass 2 ounce bottle.
Citronella - 20 drops
Eucalyptus - 20 drops
Cedarwood - 10 drops
Geranium - 10 drops
2 ounces of vodka or other alcohol.
Mix and then dab on areas where you are being bugged! (around your head, ankles, wrists, etc.  Keep away from the eyes! Use sparingly around children and never on their skin.
